TESTERS // REAL HARDWARE // TEN MINUTES

Own an MPC? Prove us right.

Two of our tools ship as drafts until someone checks them on a real machine: the Skin Designer templates and the XPM Program Builder. One report from you flips a template or a firmware family to verified for everyone.

WHAT YOU GET

SKIN DESIGNER UNLIMITED KEY, FREE

FIRST LOOK AT NEW TEMPLATES + PROGRAMS

One verified report per machine model earns the key.

Skin template check

Needs: your MPC, a printer, plain paper, and ideally calipers (a ruler works for the paper test). Currently in draft: MPC One / One+ / One G2 and Roland SP-404 MK2. Other models are welcome too; measurements are how they get built.

Print the free SVG on paper

Open the designer, pick your model, export Template SVG, print at 100% (measure the 100 mm bar). Lay it on the panel.

Report the fit

For each group, say fits / tight / loose and by roughly how much: outer edge, screen, pads, knobs, data wheel, buttons. A phone photo of the paper on the machine is gold.

Calipers, if you have them

Pad face width; pad-to-pad pitch (centre to centre); screen glass width and height; knob cap diameter; data wheel ring diameter; one function button width and height; panel width and depth.

XPM program check

Needs: any MPC running MPC 2 or MPC 3 firmware (One, One+, One G2, Live, Live II, Live III, X, X SE, Key 61, Key 37, Studio, Touch) and a USB drive or SD card. The XPM Program Builder writes a drum program in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Build a program

Drop 4 to 16 WAVs into the builder, name the program, export the ZIP. Unzip it so the .xpm and its WAVs sit in one folder.

Load it on the machine

Copy the folder to your drive, browse to it on the MPC, load the program. Note: does it load without errors, do all pads trigger, does each pad play the right sample, does the name show correctly.

Report model + firmware

Send the model, the exact firmware version (Menu → Preferences → Info), what worked, what didn't, and a screenshot of any error. Bonus: try a 24-bit and a 32-bit float WAV.

SEND RESULTS // DM

DM @musicproductioncenter, start with "MPC TESTER".

Include the tool (skin or XPM), your machine and firmware, your findings, and photos. We reply with your Unlimited key once the report checks out, and your handle goes on the status table if you want it there.

Why testers: no MPC in the studio yet means every template is measured from manufacturer data and renders, and every generated program is validated structurally, not by loading it. Real hardware is the only thing that turns "draft" into "verified", and we would rather say draft than pretend.
